Kitchen Makeover Progress…
I have a confession to make. Up until last week, my kitchen looked something like this:
I carefully edited the pictures so you didn’t know that half the kitchen was still painted Benjamin Moore’s Dill Pickle Green! Although the picture makes the green look sort of psychedelic, I really love that color. I guess I was having a bit of a hard time letting it go…
Eventually, however, I just had to bite the bullet and get the paint out again.
When I fell in love with the beadboard wallpaper, I realized I could finish off my “green wall” the way that I had originally dreamed. The real beadboard was beyond our little budget, but the wallpaper made it do-able.
So…here is the before…
And here it is now…
(Have I told you lately that I LOVE Wall Doctor’s Beadboard Wallpaper? It so looks so real!!!)
Another Before…
After…
This mirror was a gift from my friend Karey. She made it by stamping on a painted dollar store mirror. Isn’t it neat? (Thanks, Karey!)

I must tell you that my inspiration for this wall came from the Old Painted Cottage’s Dining Room. Her pictures are copy write protected, so I can’t show them here, but if you click on her link, you can see her most amazing kitchen/ dining room. I have studied and studied (and swooned over) those pictures…
I also fell in love with Restoration House’s newly renovated kitchen.
Oh…those shelves!… and the beadboard!… and the fabric cupboard door!… I’m pretty sure she and I would be friends if we were neighbours…
My husband and I contemplated making some long shelves similar to those…but in the end realized that was beyond what we could accomplish at this point.
So, I dug out the 2 shelves that I bought last Fall (with my curtain fabric!) in Ikea’s “As Is” department. They were just 5$ each (Can you believe it?). I’ve just been waiting for the perfect place to put them up…
So, now…I’m happy to report…my kitchen is no longer a “split-personality”! It’s all blue…And I don’t regret painting over that green at all… Whew!

Looks fantastic. Love the blue too and the fabric to cover the openings. Great project.
